Dr. Mason was born in Princeton, WV and raised in Tazewell, VA. He received his B.S. from the University of Virginia’s College at Wise and his M.D. from the University of Virginia. After graduating there, he completed his Pediatric Internship and Residency at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University. He practiced with PAHP for over six years prior to returning in October 2017, after a year practicing in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. He has always found his home to be in Virginia! He is happily married to his better half, Michelle, and a proud father of two sons and two fur babies. He enjoys exercise, sports, and cooking. His special interests are emergency care, adolescent pediatrics, international health, sports nutrition, and mental health.

My name is Tracie Abrams. I am a registered nurse and lactation consultant. I graduated with a nursing degree in 2001 from Radford University. I have always had a passion for pediatrics and my career started in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. During that time, I started a family of my own. My very own experience turned my focus and attention to women’s health and lactation, and I have been working with women and infants ever since.
My four children, over the span of twelve years, were breast-fed, bottle-fed, formula-fed and received milk from other mothers. These experiences were varied and diverse. It was such a testament to me that every parent and child has their own story to tell. I feel privileged to be a part of these stories and help families reach and work towards their feeding goals. My focus is helping a mom and baby receive the experience that suits and works for them, while making sure each is as healthy and happy as can be.
Feeding assessments, the early days and weeks are so important. Milk coming in and a baby suckling are not the only factors contributing to the success of breastfeeding. It is how those two things come together. At PAHP, we offer 60-minute visits where I can observe how your infant is feeding and how your body is making milk. This is the only way to provide a feeding plan and path towards your feeding goal. I vow to offer varied solutions meeting both you and your baby’s abilities. Dustin Bogan is a board-certified physician assistant and fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Society for Physician Assistants in Pediatrics. Raised in Warm Springs, a rural area in Virginia, Dustin became familiar with the vast need for improved access to quality health care. He received a bachelor’s degree in biology, a minor in psychology. He then worked as an occupational therapy tech and preschool teacher before pursuing a master’s of physician assistant studies from Shenandoah University. During his tenure at Shenandoah University, Dustin traveled to Myanmar and attended Shenandoah University’s annual mission trip to Nicaragua to provide medical care to underserved populations. Since graduating, Dustin has gone on to gain certifications in pediatrics, anxiety management, ADHD interventions, and behavioral therapy.
Dustin strives to combine his personal background, medical knowledge, and passion for mental health to best serve children and their families. He has special interests in early childhood development, pediatric mental health, and allergy and asthma management. In addition to patient care, he has served as a care coordinator, graduate-level educator, and mental health advocate. He has created and implemented a Trauma-Informed Leadership Team, presented at regional conferences on suicide prevention, and is able to provide behavioral interventions and skill training to his patients.
In his personal time, Dustin enjoys kayaking, travel, music, the beach, and volunteering with organizations devoted to cancer research and animal rescue. Dustin lives with his better half, Tiffany, their son, and three dogs just outside of Richmond.

Katherine, better known as Katie, was born in Richmond, Virginia, and raised in North Chesterfield. She graduated from James River High School, with honors, in 2003.
Katie continued her education after high school at Virginia Commonwealth University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialty in Pediatrics. She excelled in the Honors College, minored in Spanish, and graduated magna cum laude. Katie, a certified pediatric nurse practitioner, is certified through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. During her school career, Katie visited Spain, studied abroad in Mexico, and helped build houses in Costa Rica.
When Katie is not caring for her patients, she spends time and vacations with friends and family, both locally and all over the world. She enjoys trying new restaurants, eating dinner with friends, cooking on the grill, boating, wake surfing, and attending concerts featuring her favorite country music artists. She loves games, all sorts, but especially if they involve a basketball. She even coached the girl’s basketball team at her church for a few years. Katie continues to spend time with the families she worked with in her earlier years as she developed long lasting strong bonds with them and especially loves playing with their children and teenagers.

She strives to stay punctual during the day while still giving each patient her undivided attention and superior care. Sarah (Dunn) Trezza, PA-C, was born and raised in Chesterfield County, Virginia, and graduated from James River High School. She was a State Champion Field Hockey player, and also played basketball and softball for James River High School. Sarah graduated with Honors from VCU with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She then received her Physicians Assistant Master’s Degree from Shenandoah University.
She met her husband, Andy, as a seventh grader at Robious Middle School, and has supported him as he has served our country as a combat medic in the United States Army, including multiple activations and while serving in Baghdad, Iraq. They have two beautiful girls together.
In her spare time, Sarah enjoys all sports, including rooting for her favorite teams (The Washington Redskins and The Atlanta Braves) as well as listening to music (especially live), hiking, and serving at the Bon Air Christian Church working with the Youth Group and as a Sunday School teacher. She also serves on the Virginia Outdoor Ministries Committee and works as a Director for The Church’s Regional Camp, Craig Springs.

She attended Louisiana State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Science. Geaux Tigers! She received her medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA before moving to northern VA to complete her pediatric residency training at Inova Children’s Hospital.
Since completing her pediatric training, Dr. Gordon has been providing pediatric care in Hopewell and Colonial Heights for nearly 6 years. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages and values the trust that she builds with her patients and parents. She believes in listening to her patients, which helps her provide great patient care.

After marrying Rachel, his high school sweetheart, Dr. Henderson completed two years of research at UVA in Pediatric Pulmonology. He then completed medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2011 and completed his Pediatric Residency at VCU/MCV in 2014.
Dr. Henderson has always enjoyed serving the Christian community, and after completing Residency, he spent one year in Papua New Guinea, serving as a medical missionary at Kudjip Nazarene Hospital. In addition to ongoing short term medical missions (most recently to Haiti), and regularly volunteering with Crossover Healthcare (free clinic in RVA), Dr. Henderson’s special interests include “F3” early morning workouts, landscaping, fly fishing, soccer, tennis, hunting, and hiking/climbing.

Dr. Abernathy was raised in Houston Texas and is a true Texan at heart. After a short period in New Orleans, LA, he went to the Virginia Military Institute where he graduated as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army.
Dr. Abernathy attended the Medical College of Virginia and after receiving his medical degree, he continued there as a Pediatric Intern and then Resident.
After residency, he completed an Adolescent Medicine Fellowship and initially worked in the Adolescent Clinic at the Medical College of Virginia. Missing the infants and children, Dr. Abernathy started private practice in Richmond Virginia with a dream and a vision to develop a pediatric practice that could meet all of the needs of his pediatric and adolescent patients.
Dr. Abernathy has three children and currently 8 grandchildren. His early special interests outside of medicine lead him to a commercial pilot’s license and a career in aviation as he developed his medical practice. His hobbies include scuba diving, his grandchildren, and he is currently writing a book about how children grow.
His special interests now are the operation of the office and the growth of the Better Life Center.

Dr. Gewanter retired in December of 2015 after many years of an active practice of Pediatric Rheumatology. He will be missed by PAHP and his patients. He is now pursuing a career in advancing the Medical Home Concept and the inclusion in this advancing health care concept more services and organizations than just medical offices.

Dr. Garrity was born and raised in Rochester, New York.
She completed her undergraduate work at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
Dr. Garrity received her M.D. from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York and completed her internship and residency in Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr. Garrity worked in private practice in Northern Virginia for several years prior to settling down in the Richmond area. Dr. Garrity enjoys working with children of all ages and helping families understand and promote their child’s healthy development.
Dr. Garrity resides in Midlothian with her husband and three teenage children. She enjoys running, travel, and staying involved with her children’s activities.
