Dustin Bogan is a board-certified physician assistant and fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Society for Physician Assistants in Pediatrics. Raised in Warm Springs, a rural area in Virginia, Dustin became familiar with the vast need for improved access to quality health care. He received a bachelor’s degree in biology, a minor in psychology. He then worked as an occupational therapy tech and preschool teacher before pursuing a master’s of physician assistant studies from Shenandoah University. During his tenure at Shenandoah University, Dustin traveled to Myanmar and attended Shenandoah University’s annual mission trip to Nicaragua to provide medical care to underserved populations. Since graduating, Dustin has gone on to gain certifications in pediatrics, anxiety management, ADHD interventions, and behavioral therapy.
Dustin strives to combine his personal background, medical knowledge, and passion for mental health to best serve children and their families. He has special interests in early childhood development, pediatric mental health, and allergy and asthma management. In addition to patient care, he has served as a care coordinator, graduate-level educator, and mental health advocate. He has created and implemented a Trauma-Informed Leadership Team, presented at regional conferences on suicide prevention, and is able to provide behavioral interventions and skill training to his patients.

She received her Physician Assistant Master’s Degree from South University in 2024.
She is bilingual in English and Spanish and previously led research projects and community engagement teams to bring care and medical education to Spanish-speaking communities in the Richmond area. She hopes to continue this work in her role as a pediatric Physician Assistant and is excited to take care of both patients and their families.
Michelle considers practicing pediatrics a joy and a privilege with having the opportunity to get to know both the kids and their families as they learn and develop together. She is dedicated to helping kids grow healthier physically, mentally, and emotionally while providing parental support and education along the way. While she enjoys all areas of pediatric medicine, her interests include mental health, sports medicine, and preventative health.
In her free time, Michelle enjoys spending time with her husband Mike and their rescue dog Stanley, playing soccer, and supporting her favorite sports teams (FC Barcelona, Washington Nationals, Boston Red Sox, Washington Capitals, and Boston Bruins) while battling an in-home hockey rivalry with her New York Islanders fan husband – Stanley of course has his own bandana for each team, but Michelle knows Stanley is on her side. She also enjoys the outdoors, including hiking, camping, off-roading, and photography.

It was such a testament to me that every parent and child has their own story to tell. I feel privileged to be a part of these stories and help families reach and work towards their feeding goals. My focus is helping a mom and baby receive the experience that suits and works for them, while making sure each is as healthy and happy as can be.

During her school career, Katie visited Spain, studied abroad in Mexico, and helped build houses in Costa Rica.
When Katie is not caring for her patients, she spends time and vacations with friends and family, both locally and all over the world. She enjoys trying new restaurants, eating dinner with friends, cooking on the grill, boating, wake surfing, and attending concerts featuring her favorite country music artists. She loves games, all sorts, but especially if they involve a basketball. She even coached the girl’s basketball team at her church for a few years. Katie continues to spend time with the families she worked with in her earlier years as she developed long lasting strong bonds with them and especially loves playing with their children and teenagers.

She was a State Champion Field Hockey player, and also played basketball and softball for James River High School. Sarah graduated with Honors from VCU with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She then received her Physicians Assistant Master’s Degree from Shenandoah University.
She met her husband, Andy, as a seventh grader at Robious Middle School, and has supported him as he has served our country as a combat medic in the United States Army, including multiple activations and while serving in Baghdad, Iraq. They have two beautiful girls together.
In her spare time, Sarah enjoys all sports, including rooting for her favorite teams (The Washington Redskins and The Atlanta Braves) as well as listening to music (especially live), hiking, and serving at the Bon Air Christian Church working with the Youth Group and as a Sunday School teacher. After marrying Rachel, his high school sweetheart, Dr. Henderson completed two years of research at UVA in Pediatric Pulmonology. He then completed medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2011 and completed his Pediatric Residency at VCU/MCV in 2014.
Dr. Henderson has always enjoyed serving the Christian community, and after completing Residency, he spent one year in Papua New Guinea, serving as a medical missionary at Kudjip Nazarene Hospital. In addition to ongoing short term medical missions (most recently to Haiti), and regularly volunteering with Crossover Healthcare (free clinic in RVA), Dr. Henderson’s special interests include “F3” early morning workouts, landscaping, fly fishing, soccer, tennis, hunting, and hiking/climbing.

Dr. Abernathy was raised in Houston Texas and is a true Texan at heart. After a short period in New Orleans, LA, he went to the Virginia Military Institute where he graduated as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army.
Dr. Abernathy attended the Medical College of Virginia and after receiving his medical degree, he continued there as a Pediatric Intern and then Resident.
After residency, he completed an Adolescent Medicine Fellowship and initially worked in the Adolescent Clinic at the Medical College of Virginia. Missing the infants and children, Dr. Abernathy started private practice in Richmond Virginia with a dream and a vision to develop a pediatric practice that could meet all of the needs of his pediatric and adolescent patients.
Dr. Abernathy has three children and currently 8 grandchildren. His early special interests outside of medicine lead him to a commercial pilot’s license and a career in aviation as he developed his medical practice. His hobbies include scuba diving, his grandchildren, and he is currently writing a book about how children grow.
His special interests now are the operation of the office and the growth of the Better Life Center.
Dr. Everett was born in Washington DC and grew up in that area. He attended Washington and Lee University and became a true “Mink.” After graduation he completed his medical training at the Medical College of Virginia / Virginia Commonwealth University.
His Pediatric Internship and Residency was also done at the Medical College of Virginia.
Dr. Everett joined the growing group at Pediatric and Adolescent Health Partners as the fifth member.
Dr. Everett is a “River Man” — he loves to fly fish in any river he can find. He is also an avid canoeist and enjoys all aspects of a lazy day on the Rivanna River.
His special interests in Pediatric Medicine are Asthma and Infectious disease.
Dr. Everett was born in Washington DC and grew up in that area. He attended Washington and Lee University and became a true “Mink.” After graduation he completed his medical training at the Medical College of Virginia / Virginia Commonwealth University.
His Pediatric Internship and Residency was also done at the Medical College of Virginia.
Dr. Everett joined the growing group at Pediatric and Adolescent Health Partners as the fifth member.

Dr. Gewanter retired in December of 2015 after many years of an active practice of Pediatric Rheumatology. He will be missed by PAHP and his patients. He is now pursuing a career in advancing the Medical Home Concept and the inclusion in this advancing health care concept more services and organizations than just medical offices.

Dr. Garrity was born and raised in Rochester, New York.
She completed her undergraduate work at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
Dr. Garrity received her M.D. from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York and completed her internship and residency in Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr. Garrity worked in private practice in Northern Virginia for several years prior to settling down in the Richmond area. Dr. Garrity enjoys working with children of all ages and helping families understand and promote their child’s healthy development.
Dr. Garrity resides in Midlothian with her husband and three teenage children. She enjoys running, travel, and staying involved with her children’s activities.
